Think all "clean" & "natural" beauty products are safe? Thinnk agian...
When ditching and switching to better, non-tox / low-tox products the hardest part is accessibility, and reading the labels. I love that Target has started carrying cleaner product options! Even though it’s in the “natural beauty” section or labeled “clean” I still ALWAYS research. I do this with everything from beauty, to personal care, to household items, to baby products. It doesn’t have to be scary or a long process either!
So, first let’s talk about my top 10 low-tox beauty faves from Target, and i’ll show you how easy it is to see what all the ingredients mean!
On a scale of 0-10, ten being worst, are rated a 2 or below.
Reading the labels
Okay, now that i’ve shared my top 10 low toxic beauty faves from Target let’s chat label reading. Label reading can be daunting, especially when you’re in a hurry, or just can’t even pronounce the ingredients! With EWG’s skin deep app you can easily scan your products and get a rating. This goes beyond the cute “natural looking” packaging. Marketing is everything, but it’s important we look beyond the labels, images, and packaging.
EWG’s Skin Deep is a data base for personal care, and cosmetics that rates them from EWG verified through 10. Ten is the worst, meaning it is the most toxic. I generally stay between EWG verified and 2 . It’s also important to scan each product individually, because a brand can have a product rated a 0 , and another product rated an 8. There are certain brands that have a fairly wide selection of low toxic products, whereas others have only a few low toxic options.
